About Professor Valim

Alexandre Busko Valim is professor of History at the Federal University of Santa Catarina – UFSC, SC/Brazil, where teaches at the Cinema Undergraduate Degree, History Undergraduate Degree, Professional Master’s Program in Teaching History and Postgraduate History Program. Valim is Undergraduated in History from the State University of Maringá, PR/Brazil (1998-2001) and PhD from the Federal Fluminense University, RJ/Brazil (2002-2006). He concluded a post doctoral research at the School of Journalism and Communication at Carleton University in Ottawa, ON/Canada (2008-2009) and at the College of Arts & Science at New York University in New York, NY/USA (2015-2016). He is also a government evaluator of undergraduate courses (History area) of Higher Education of the National System of Evaluation of Higher Education – BASis, Ministry of Education of Brazil, since 2006. He has experience in History, with emphasis on Contemporary History, working mainly in the following subjects: History of Cinema, Cold War, Propaganda, Cultural Diplomacy, Good Neighbor Policy, Second World War, relations between Brazil and the United States and Social History.
